Role overview
A Welding and Fabrication Supervisor is required to oversee a workshop or a site where steel is cut, fitted and welded. The role covers productivity, repair rate, and coordination with the quality and planning teams. AED 5,000 to 10,000 a month, indicative.
Experience requirement. Candidates must have at least 10 years of welding and fabrication experience, including supervision of foremen or crews.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise welding and fabrication work in the shop or on site
- Plan daily and weekly work with the planning team and the foremen
- Distribute welders and fitters across jobs according to skill and workload
- Track productivity, such as joints completed or tonnes fabricated per week
- Track the weld repair rate and act on repeated defects
- Coordinate with QA/QC on inspection hold points and test schedules
- Make sure welders work to the approved welding procedure specification (WPS)
- Check welder qualification records before a welder is put on a job
- Review drawings with the foremen and clarify queries with engineering
- Control material issue, consumables stock and welding equipment
Requirements
- At least 10 years of welding and fabrication experience, including supervision
- Strong knowledge of welding processes, positions and fabrication methods
- Trade qualification such as ITI Welder, a diploma or an equivalent certificate is preferred. Welding inspection knowledge is an advantage
- Able to read fabrication drawings, isometrics and WPS documents
- Basic use of reports, spreadsheets and job cards
- Hot work safety awareness: permits, fire watch, fume control and confined-space rules
- Good English to coordinate with other teams
- A technical interview will test your welding and fabrication knowledge
- Valid passport

About the work
You manage the whole welding and fabrication operation: manpower, materials, schedule and quality. Foremen report to you, and you report progress to the project or workshop manager. The employer expects a low repair rate, jobs delivered on time and clean records for QA/QC (quality assurance and quality control).

You are an experienced welding professional who plans ahead and tracks numbers as closely as you track welds. You communicate clearly with foremen, inspectors and planners.

Salary & benefits
