Role overview
Skilled tile masons (tile fixers) for residential, commercial, renovation and fit-out projects in Dubai, installing floor and wall tiles with accurate cutting, levelling, alignment, grouting and a high-quality finish. AED 1,500 to 2,500 a month, indicative, depending on experience and skill.
Experience requirement. Hands-on experience as a tile mason, tile fixer or tile installer, laying floor and wall tiles. Experience with ceramic, porcelain, marble and granite, surface preparation, waterproofing, levelling and working from layouts or drawings is what Dubai employers commonly look for.
Key responsibilities
- Install floor and wall tiles according to drawings, layouts and site instructions
- Install ceramic, porcelain, mosaic and other tile materials
- Install marble and granite where required
- Measure and mark surfaces accurately before installation
- Cut and shape tiles with hand and power tile-cutting equipment
- Prepare walls and floors before tiling, including cleaning, levelling and screeding
- Mix and apply tile adhesive, mortar and grout
- Keep tile alignment, spacing, level and slope correct
- Finish corners, edges and joints accurately
- Grout and clean completed tile surfaces
- Assist with waterproofing preparation in wet areas where required
- Tile bathrooms, kitchens, balconies and other wet and dry areas
- Repair or replace cracked, damaged or incorrectly installed tiles
- Keep tile breakage and material wastage low
- Inspect completed work and put right any finishing defects
- Maintain tile cutters, hand tools and other equipment
- Keep the work area clean and organised, and follow site HSE procedures and PPE rules
Requirements
- Relevant experience as a tile mason, tile fixer or tile installer
- Practical experience in floor and wall tile installation
- Strong knowledge of tile cutting, alignment, levelling and grouting
- Experience with ceramic and porcelain tiles
- Marble and granite fixing experience is an advantage
- Able to understand measurements and basic drawings or layouts
- Able to use tile cutters, grinders and masonry tools
- Good attention to detail and finishing quality
- Able to work independently and as part of a site team
- UAE or GCC experience is preferred, depending on the employer
- Valid passport
- Medically fit for construction and fit-out work overseas
