Role overview
Shuttering carpenters are required to build timber and plywood shutters for concrete frames on residential, commercial and industrial sites. The work covers columns, beams, slabs, walls and foundations. AED 1,000 to 1,600 a month, indicative.
Experience requirement. Candidates must have at least 2 years of site experience making and fixing shuttering for reinforced concrete.
Key responsibilities
- Cut and nail plywood and timber into shutters for columns, beams, slabs, walls and foundations
- Take dimensions from the shuttering drawing and mark them on boards
- Erect props, ledgers, soldiers and bracing to carry the shutters
- Set line, level and plumb with a spirit level, plumb bob and measuring tape
- Seal joints and gaps so the concrete does not leak
- Apply form release oil to shutter faces before each use
- Fix shutters around reinforcement without disturbing the bars or cover blocks
- Check props and bracing again before and during the pour
- Strike (dismantle) shutters after curing without damaging the concrete edge
- Remove nails, clean boards and stack material for reuse
Requirements
- At least 2 years of shuttering experience on concrete building sites
- ITI Carpenter or a trade certificate is an advantage. Proven site experience matters more
- Able to read a basic shuttering drawing and take off sizes
- Skilled in the use of saws, hammers, drills and levelling tools
- Awareness of working at height, edge protection and safe striking
- Valid passport
- Medically fit for overseas employment, as the work is physically demanding

About the work
You cut, assemble and fix shutters so concrete takes the drawn shape. You work with a gang, setting forms before the pour and striking them after curing. The employer expects clean joints, true line, level and plumb, and careful handling of material so that plywood and timber can be reused.

Salary & benefits
