Role overview

Process safety and HSE engineers for refinery operations in Abu Dhabi and Ruwais, covering HAZOP, permit-to-work and contractor HSE performance.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor how refinery HSE and process-safety requirements are applied
  • Carry out site safety inspections and audits
  • Support HAZOP, HAZID and risk assessment
  • Review JSA and JHA and method statements
  • Monitor permit-to-work compliance
  • Monitor LOTO and isolation procedures
  • Monitor hot work, confined space, work at height, lifting, excavation and electrical work
  • Run toolbox talks and safety briefings
  • Support incident and near-miss investigations
  • Monitor contractor HSE performance
  • Take part in emergency-response drills
  • Support MOC and PSSR
  • Prepare HSE reports
  • Follow company, client and applicable GCC HSE requirements

Requirements

  • B.E. or B.Tech in chemical, mechanical, safety or environmental engineering, or a related discipline
  • 1 to 8 years or more in process safety or HSE
  • NEBOSH certification is required for this role
  • IOSH, process safety, HAZOP and HAZID or ISO 45001 certification is preferred
  • Valid passport
  • Medically fit for overseas employment

General requirements for these refinery roles

  • Medically fit, and able to meet GCC employment and visa requirements
  • Relevant refinery, petrochemical, oil and gas, gas-processing or heavy-process industry experience is preferred
  • Willing to work shift-based, plant or field roles where the job requires it
  • Good English communication and technical reporting
  • Understands and follows HSE, permit-to-work, LOTO and emergency-response procedures
  • Educational and experience documents may be verified by the employer
  • Able to provide educational certificates, experience letters and supporting documents
  • Final selection rests with the employer's interview, technical assessment and approval
  • A pre-employment medical, document verification and visa processing may be required
