Role overview

A plumbing or MEP contractor requires foremen to lead plumbing gangs on towers, villas, hospitals and commercial projects. MEP means mechanical, electrical and plumbing, the building services trades that work together on site. AED 3,500 to 5,500 a month, indicative.

Experience requirement. Candidates must have at least 7 years of plumbing experience, including time leading a gang. A diploma is an advantage.

Key responsibilities

Set out plumbing routes, levels and falls from drawings and riser diagrams
Assign daily tasks to plumbers and helpers and check each completed area
Prepare material take-off lists from the drawings
Raise material requests and check deliveries against what was ordered
Check uPVC solvent joints, PPR (polypropylene) fusion welds and GI threaded joints
Make sure sleeves and openings are fixed before other trades close the area
Arrange and carry out pressure tests with the site engineer
Record daily progress, manpower and work completed
Resolve clashes with ductwork, cable trays and fire-fighting pipes
Coach plumbers who need better technique

Requirements

At least 7 years of plumbing experience, with time as charge-hand or gang leader
ITI Plumber or an equivalent trade certificate is preferred
A diploma in a related engineering subject is an advantage
Strong drawing reading, including isometrics and riser diagrams
Good grasp of uPVC, PPR, CPVC, HDPE and GI systems
Clear English or Hindi to lead a gang
Valid passport
Medically fit for overseas employment

About the work

You will turn drawings into daily work for a gang of plumbers and helpers. You set out the routes, hand out tasks, check quality as work goes in and report progress to the site engineer. The employer expects a foreman who keeps the gang productive, the materials in stock and the work right the first time.
