Role overview

A plant operator or industrial contractor requires pipe technicians for factories, utilities, water treatment plants and process facilities. You will install and maintain water and utility lines, pumps and valves. AED 2,000 to 3,000 a month, indicative.

Key responsibilities

  • Install utility and process water pipelines to piping drawings and isometrics
  • Make threaded joints on GI (galvanised iron) pipe and flanged joints with gaskets and bolts
  • Fit pipe for welded joints, which are made by qualified welders
  • Install and align pumps, strainers, gate valves, ball valves and check valves
  • Fit pipe supports, hangers and guides to the specified spacing
  • Carry out hydrostatic pressure testing, record pressures and drain down safely
  • Replace worn valves, gaskets and pipe sections during maintenance
  • Take part in shutdown work to a tight plan and hand back clean lines
  • Work under permit-to-work and isolation rules around live plant
  • Tighten flange bolts in the correct sequence

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of industrial, utility or process piping experience
  • ITI Plumber, Pipe Fitter or an equivalent trade certificate is preferred
  • Able to read piping drawings, isometrics and valve schedules
  • Knowledge of GI, HDPE (high-density polyethylene) and PPR (polypropylene) pipe, and copper where the site needs it
  • Awareness of permit-to-work, lock-out and confined-space safety
  • Basic English or Hindi to follow instructions
  • Valid passport
  • Medically fit for overseas employment

About the work

You will work on utility and process water lines, fitting pipe, valves and supports to drawings. When a plant stops for planned maintenance, you will help complete the pipe work inside the shutdown window. The employer expects careful, safe work around live plant, accurate joints and tests that pass.

Ideal candidate

You have worked in a plant or utility site and respect its safety rules. You are comfortable with flanges, valves and test pumps, and you do not cut corners on a shutdown.

Salary & benefits

Final salary depends on your experience, skills, communication and interview performance, and on the employer's selection.
