Role overview
Experienced gypsum painters for interior fit-out, residential, commercial, villa and high-rise projects in Dubai, finishing gypsum-board joints, applying putty, sanding, preparing surfaces and priming and painting interiors. AED 1,500 to 2,500 a month, indicative, depending on experience and skill.
Experience requirement. Hands-on experience as a gypsum painter or finishing painter, preparing newly installed gypsum-board surfaces for the final paint. Joint treatment, screw-head finishing, putty, sanding and smooth surface preparation decide the quality of the finish, and this role is judged on them.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare gypsum-board walls and ceilings for finishing
- Apply joint tape to gypsum-board joints
- Apply joint compound and filler
- Cover screw heads and fixing points
- Apply wall putty and skim coats where required
- Fill cracks, gaps and surface imperfections
- Sand surfaces to a smooth finish
- Prepare corners, edges and ceiling joints
- Apply primer or sealer before painting
- Mix and prepare paints as required
- Paint with brushes, rollers or spray equipment where applicable
- Apply as many coats as the colour and finish require
- Carry out touch-up and rectification work
- Repair damaged gypsum and painted surfaces
- Protect floors, fixtures and finished areas before painting
- Inspect completed surfaces for visible defects
- Maintain painting tools and equipment
- Keep work areas clean and organised
- Follow site HSE procedures and PPE rules
Requirements
- Relevant experience as a gypsum painter, painter or finishing painter
- Practical experience finishing gypsum-board surfaces
- Strong knowledge of joint tape and joint compound
- Experience with wall putty and skim coating
- Good sanding and surface-preparation skills
- Experience applying primer and interior paint
- Able to achieve smooth, even finishes
- A good eye for surface defects and finishing quality
- Able to use brushes, rollers and other painting tools
- UAE or GCC experience is preferred, depending on the employer
- Valid passport
- Physically and medically fit for construction and fit-out work overseas
