Role overview
Skilled gypsum carpenters for interior fit-out, residential, commercial, villa and high-rise projects in Dubai, building gypsum-board partitions, false ceilings, metal framing, bulkheads and decorative gypsum work. AED 1,500 to 2,500 a month, indicative, depending on experience and skill.
Experience requirement. Hands-on experience as a gypsum carpenter, gypsum installer or drywall installer, measuring, cutting and installing gypsum-board systems for walls, partitions and ceilings. You work from drawings and measurements, and installations must come out accurate, level and properly finished.
Key responsibilities
- Install gypsum-board walls and partitions
- Install suspended and false ceilings
- Build metal framing with studs, tracks and channels
- Measure, mark and cut gypsum boards accurately
- Fix gypsum boards securely to the framing
- Build ceiling drops, bulkheads, boxes and architectural features
- Cut openings for lights, AC diffusers, access panels and MEP services
- Install moisture-resistant or fire-rated boards where specified
- Keep alignment, level, plumb and dimensions correct
- Coordinate gypsum work with the electrical, HVAC and other MEP teams
- Install corner beads, trims and related accessories
- Carry out repairs and modifications to existing gypsum work
- Keep board and material wastage low
- Maintain tools and equipment
- Follow drawings, site instructions and HSE requirements
Requirements
- Relevant experience as a gypsum carpenter, gypsum installer or drywall installer
- Practical experience with gypsum-board partitions and false ceilings
- Knowledge of metal stud and channel framing
- Able to measure, cut and install gypsum boards accurately
- Able to understand basic drawings and layouts
- Experience with hand and power tools
- Good understanding of line, level, plumb and alignment
- UAE or GCC experience is preferred, depending on the employer
- Valid passport
- Physically and medically fit for construction and fit-out work overseas
