Role overview
Airport pushback drivers for airside ground-handling operations at airports in the UAE and the wider GCC, operating aircraft pushback tractors and tugs in a tightly controlled, safety-critical airport environment. Salary as per the employer's offer.
Experience. Experience as an airport pushback driver, pushback tractor operator, airport driver or ground support equipment driver is preferred, and hands-on experience with pushback tractors or tugs is an advantage. This is a safety-critical airside role: precise vehicle control, situational awareness and strict discipline matter most.
Key responsibilities
- Operate aircraft pushback tractors and tugs safely and efficiently
- Carry out pre-use inspections of pushback vehicles and equipment
- Position the pushback tractor or tug correctly at the aircraft
- Connect and disconnect towbar equipment where applicable
- Push back aircraft according to approved operating procedures
- Follow instructions from the headset operator and the ground-handling team
- Keep communication and coordination clear during pushback
- Follow the designated aircraft movement and pushback procedures
- Keep safe clearance from aircraft, vehicles, equipment and people
- Watch the aircraft wings, tail and surrounding area during operations
- Follow ramp speed limits and airside driving rules
- Stop at once if an unsafe condition is identified
- Park and secure pushback equipment correctly after use
- Report vehicle, tug or equipment defects immediately
- Keep the required operational checklists and records
- Follow FOD (foreign object debris) control procedures
- Comply with airport HSE, ramp safety and emergency procedures
Requirements
- Experience as an airport pushback driver, pushback tractor operator, airport driver or ground support equipment driver is preferred
- Practical experience operating pushback tractors or tugs is an advantage
- A good understanding of airport ramp and airside operations is preferred
- A valid driving licence, as required by the employer
- Strong driving skills and a responsible driving record
- Basic working English: able to understand operational and safety instructions
- Strong safety awareness and situational judgement
- Able to communicate and coordinate with ground teams
- Professional grooming and presentation standards are required
- A professional attitude, discipline and punctuality
- Good communication and teamwork
- Able to work efficiently in a time-sensitive airport environment
- Able to obtain the airport's airside driving permit where required
- Willing to work rotational shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays
- Valid passport
