Role overview
Airport baggage drivers for baggage handling, sorting and airside transport at airports in the UAE and the wider GCC, moving passenger baggage safely and on time between sorting areas, handling facilities and aircraft. Salary as per the employer's offer.
Experience. Experience in airport baggage handling, baggage driving, ramp operations, logistics, warehouse work or ground handling is preferred, and experience driving baggage tractors or similar vehicles is an advantage. Depending on operations the role can include sorting, loading and unloading, within strict flight turnaround times.
Key responsibilities
- Operate airport baggage tractors and related ground vehicles safely
- Carry out basic pre-use inspections of baggage tractors
- Move baggage carts between sorting areas and aircraft stands
- Collect departure baggage from the designated handling areas
- Bring arrival baggage from the aircraft to the baggage facilities
- Move transfer baggage between the designated operational areas
- Connect and disconnect baggage carts safely
- Position baggage carts correctly for loading and unloading
- Help sort baggage by flight and destination
- Check baggage tags and routing information where required
- Load and unload passenger baggage
- Handle baggage carefully to keep loss and damage low
- Make sure baggage reaches the correct flight or handling area
- Follow flight schedules and operational instructions
- Support baggage movement during aircraft turnaround
- Keep to safe driving speeds in airport operational areas
- Keep safe clearance from aircraft, vehicles and ground support equipment
- Report vehicle or equipment defects promptly
- Follow baggage-security and operational procedures
- Follow FOD (foreign object debris) control procedures
- Keep operational areas clean and organised
- Follow airport HSE, ramp and airside safety rules
Requirements
- Experience in airport baggage handling, baggage driving, ramp operations, logistics, warehouse work or ground handling is preferred
- Experience operating baggage tractors or similar vehicles is an advantage
- A valid driving licence, as required by the employer
- Able to sort and handle baggage accurately
- Physically fit, and able to lift, load and unload baggage
- Able to do repetitive physical work safely
- Basic working English: able to understand operational and safety instructions
- Strong safety awareness
- Able to follow instructions accurately
- Professional grooming and presentation standards are required
- A professional attitude, discipline and punctuality
- Good communication and teamwork
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, time-sensitive airport environment
- Able to obtain the airport's airside driving permit where required
- Willing to work rotational shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays
- Valid passport
